Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Seminar of the Greater Bay Area Successfully Held at Gortune Investment
The emergence of Sora has greatly catalyzed and disrupted humanity’s understanding of AI. People are astonished by the efficiency of AI’s evolution and the speed, breadth, depth, and power with which it is changing the world. The unprecedented enthusiasm for AI is matched by confusion about the unknown. For the first time, the ongoing National People’s Congress (NPC) has included “Artificial Intelligence+” in the government work report, reflecting the country’s high emphasis on AI strategy.
On the afternoon of March 8, the first Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Seminar of the Greater Bay Area on the Year of the Dragon was held at the headquarters conference hall of Gortune Investment Co., Ltd. (Gortune Investment). The event was jointly organized by Gortune Investment, the Gateway Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute, and the Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University. Since its establishment, Gortune Investment has been focused on aggregating greater forces and promoting industrial upgrading through active investments in high-tech industries. The event received positive responses from AI industry experts of Guangdong and Hong Kong, leading research institutions, and representative AI companies in the Greater Bay Area.
The seminar began with a heartfelt welcome address by Mr. Chen Jie, President of Gortune Investment. Mr. Chen expressed his hopes for the event, emphasizing the goal of facilitating learning, exchange, and innovative collisions through high-quality forums, generating fusion, fission, and even disruptive change, with the collective aim of driving the development of the AI industry in the Greater Bay Area.
During the thematic presentations, Li Qiyong, Deputy Party Secretary of Digital Guangdong Network Construction Co., Ltd., gave a talk titled Thoughts and Prospects on Artificial Intelligence in Digital Government Construction and Application, introducing the development of digital government work in Guangdong Province in recent years and its integration with AI. Mr. Peng Hu, Managing Director of the Research Department and Chief Analyst of the Technology Hardware Industry at CICC, gave a presentation on The Pinnacle of the Waves: From Moore’s Law to Scaling Law, pointing out that AI’s supply-demand contradiction would be enormous and the space for the AI computing power market’s development is incredible, providing analysis on the development pattern and market opportunities both domestically and internationally. Mr. Chen Qingyuan, an expert in cloud computing from YSEMI, a representative of domestic CPU R&D and manufacturing enterprises, shared insights on Layout of AI Large Computing Power Data Centers and New Trends in Chip Development. As one of the first universities in the country to offer a digital economy program with a master’s degree, the Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University has also established the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Digital Economy and Data Science Laboratory” approved as a key provincial social science laboratory. Its Party Secretary Huang Yi and Associate Dean and Laboratory Director Professor Lin Jianhao introduced the discipline’s construction and talent cultivation.
PCITECH, as one of the Company’s main shareholders, is a leading enterprise in the domestic intelligent transportation industry and attaches great importance to and supports this seminar. Mr. Zhou Zhiwen, Vice President of PCITECH and Executive Dean of the Central Research Institute, and Dr. Wang Kai, Chief AI Scientist, participated in the seminar and gave a thematic presentation titled Deepening the Transportation Industry, and Supporting the Implementation of Large Model Industry. They shared the technical features, key elements, and current global development patterns of large models (LLM), showcasing PCITECH’s self-developed large model base and scenario applications in the transportation vertical field through large model training and their major achievements. As a pioneer in industry research and layout, Dean Zhou Zhiwen actively participated in various discussions and shared valuable insights, providing the audience with more profound knowledge.
During the Q&A and discussion session, Mr. Li Chunhong, Honorary President of the Guangdong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association and former Director of the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, along with the Company’s main leadership, Vice President of PCITECH Zhou Zhiwen, and colleagues from the Gateway Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute as well as numerous professionals from relevant fields, actively participated in the discussion, reaching a broad consensus.
At the end of the seminar, Mr. Li Chunhong delivered a concluding speech. He stated that this seminar was highly meaningful and emphasized that promoting communication, service, and talent aggregation is key. AI will undoubtedly trigger a massive industrial revolution and profound social transformation. While embracing AI, we must also think about several important issues, including not only focusing on applied science but also addressing the transformation of fundamental disciplines and talent cultivation models. We need to focus on cultivating an innovative culture and mechanism. In addition to studying the technological issues of AI itself, we should also explore the social and philosophical aspects related to AI. He concluded by expressing a hope that AI can better benefit humanity and that we seize the opportunities for AI development. He also expressed support for continuing to host such forums to promote communication and foster innovation.
