AI Evolution, Industry Transformation, and Value Creation in Capital Markets: Gateway Cloud Valley Forum Successfully Convened

The evolution of artificial intelligence, the changing global landscape, and the intersection of science and engineering innovation are all rapidly advancing. At the beginning of April, under the thousand-year-old camphor tree in the tranquil Amanyangyun, it was a perfect time to appreciate the spring and discuss ideas over the clouds. To explore the future and grasp trends, the “Cloud Valley Forum”, hosted by the Gateway Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute was successfully held on April 3. As the founding institution of the institute, Gortune Investment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Gortune Investment”) participated in the forum, with Chairman Su Bin, Executive CEO Xiao Jian, Assistant to the President Xu Wei, and Assistant to the President Li Xiaoming attending as main guests.

The forum, themed “Cloud Opens the Future: AI Evolution, Industry Transformation, and Value Creation in Capital Markets”, brought together top scientists, leaders from listed companies, and investment industry figures from both domestic and international spheres. The forum focused on cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, brain-machine interfaces, digital economy, and lifestyles in the AI era, engaging in deep dialogues to open new doors for the integration of technology and industry.

Guests attending the forum and family banquet were Mr. Shen Xiangyang, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Foreign Member of the US National Academy of Engineering, and former Global Executive Vice President of Microsoft, Mr. Jeffrey, former President of Cornell University, and other scientists in AI and other fields, as well as leaders from over 20 investment and research platforms (such as Gortune Investment, CITIC Securities, CICC Capital, Ping An Asset Management, First Shanghai, Zheshang Securities, and Huajin Securities), controllers and senior executives of more than 20 listed companies (such as Merck Pharmaceuticals, United-Imaging Healthcare, and SenseTime Technology) and leading growth enterprises (such as BrainCo, one of the “Six Little Dragons” in Hangzhou).

The Minhang District Government in Shanghai placed great importance on the forum. Acting District Mayor Wu Qiang, Vice District Head Tan Ruicong, Vice District Head Zhang Xian, along with leaders from the District Economic Committee, Science and Technology Committee, and local town leadership, attended the event. Vice District Head Zhang Xian delivered a passionate speech on behalf of the district government. She emphasized that Minhang District, as the core zone for Shanghai’s technological innovation center, is accelerating high-quality development by building a hub for artificial intelligence industry clustering, deepening the integration of industry, academia, and research, and fostering innovative applications. She called on all sectors to work together to overcome technical and ethical challenges and expressed hope that the Cloud Valley Forum would continue to be held to promote intellectual exchange and achievement transformation.

Following this, the host representative Ms. Eva and Executive CEO of Gortune Investment and Dean of the Gateway Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute, Xiao Jian, delivered speeches. Ms. Eva warmly welcomed the guests, shared her unique insights on AI development, and expressed her positive embrace of AI’s future. Executive CEO Xiao Jian introduced the origin and initial vision of the Gateway Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute, expressing the institute’s commitment to collaborating with others to build an open, open-source technological innovation ecosystem, achieving mutual empowerment between technology and industry, and facilitating a two-way journey between capital and technological innovation.

During the keynote speech session, Jeffrey S. Lehman, Founding President of New York University Shanghai and former President of Cornell University, delivered a speech titled AI and Creativity, exploring how artificial intelligence can stimulate human innovative potential. Wang Cunyu, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician of the US National Academy of Medicine, and Dean of the Institute of Advanced Clinical Medicine of Peking University, analyzed the opportunities and challenges of AI in drug development. Zhang Shaoting, Dean of the Qing Yuan Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Vice President of SenseTime Group, shared the practical applications of multi-modal large models in healthcare, revealing the vast prospects of intelligent healthcare. Additionally, Professor Yu Yanlei of Fudan University discussed “life-like” intelligent materials, and Dr. Lv Xudong, a researcher at Caltech, provided an outlook on quantum computing, unveiling the frontier breakthroughs at the intersection of AI and basic sciences, and showcasing the infinite possibilities of technology reshaping the future.

At the end of the keynote speech session, Academician Shen Xiangyang gave his comments. Shen praised AI’s disruptive potential to reshape human creativity, while also addressing the practical challenges such as hallucination issues and ethical risks. He emphasized that in the frontier technological field, stakeholders in academia, industry, and research must abandon short-term utilitarian thinking, focus on breaking through core technological bottlenecks, and only then can leapfrog development be made in the future.

The forum featured two roundtable discussions, focusing on hot topics. The first session, themed “AI Empowering Listed Companies for Transformation and Upgrading”, was moderated by Hu Yanjun, Deputy Dean of the Gateway Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute and Chairman of Guangdong EJAM Investment Co., Ltd. The discussion included Chen Ze, Chairman of HCD Group, Huang Ying, Chairman of Huitong Energy, He Hongfu, Chairman of AISHU Technology, and Wu Renjun, Head of South China Investment Banking at CITIC Securities. During the dialogue, representatives from listed companies shared their experiences with AI empowerment and the challenges they face, exploring effective paths and future trends for using AI to drive corporate transformation and upgrading.

The second roundtable session focused on “Brain-Machine Interface”, where experts such as He Xiyu Jin, Partner at BrainCo, and Li Chengyu from Lin Gang Laboratory first gave keynote speeches. Then, a roundtable dialogue was held, moderated by Qian Kun, Director of the Intelligent Planning Department at Zhongshan Hospital, with Li Yuanning, Professor at Shanghai University of Science and Technology and Director of the Cognitive Computing and Transformation Laboratory, joining the conversation. The discussion addressed the ethical, technical, and safety issues surrounding brain-machine interfaces, exploring strategies for overcoming technical limitations, regulating applications, and promoting the healthy development of the industry.

During the pre-dinner salon session, Qiu Hong, President of First Shanghai Group, along with Xu Wei, Assistant to the President of Gortune Investment, and Eric Ma, General Manager of Teaken, discussed Digital Economy and Web 3.0, engaging in a thought-provoking conversation on technological innovation, policy boundaries, and talent strategy. The Amino Capital team presented a session titled Life Design in the Era of Large Models, discussing how individuals in the AI era can reshape their abilities and achieve steady progress in life planning.

This forum not only served as a platform for intellectual exchanges but also highlighted Gortune Investment’s practical approach to leveraging technology investment for industrial upgrading and capital collaboration to unleash innovation potential. In the future, Gortune Investment will continue to connect global innovation resources, seize opportunities in the AI wave, and help China’s technology and capital move toward the new era.
